Sigh of the Soul
(2012 photos of the artist)
Danny Castillones Sillada's youngest daughter took these candid photos when he was recording “Dandansoy,” a visayan folk song, in his art studio (repeat “art studio” not music studio). He was all in one in this particular music---he arranged, performed and engineered the track. He also took the videos (with the help of his daughter) and edited it despite the lack of necessary equipment to create a high-end output.
Link to the video, his version of the Visayan folk song “Dandansoy” in blues harp with kubing (jaw harp):

‘Suffering comes in different forms: empirical or metaphysical, emotional or intellectual. Every agony, however, can become an inexhaustible source of strength or creativity, as a necessity to create an anesthetic amid its lingering convulsion. I’ve been confronted by my own mortality due to a recurring illness that has been bothering me for quite some time now. Like some tragedies that I went through, I consider it as a source for creativity. From it, I was able to create something, which I called “sigh of the soul.”’
