A Tribute to Offy: Art, Poetry & Music

Movement of Space & Time, 2008, by Danny Castillones Sillada
PERHAPS THE MOST romantic tribute that a husband could give at the first death anniversary of his beloved wife is through art, poetry and music. Mr. Paulito Garcia, one of the co-founders of Ricco-Renzo Galleries & Café, thought that no one but multi-talented Filipino artist Danny C. Sillada could deliver such homage with ardor and passion.
February 19, 2008, at exactly 6:30 p.m., marks the first death anniversary of a renowned lady who inspired both emerging and established Filipino artists, Filipino art patron Ms. Offy Flores-Garcia.
The young Danny Sillada, then a struggling artist—snubbed by art galleries in Metro Manila, was given a chance by the late Ms. Offy Garcia to exhibit his works at her gallery. Today he is an internationally renowned Filipino artist whose works have been collected by art patrons in UK, France, Middle East, USA and Asian countries.
As a Man of God, Sillada studied priesthood at the Pontifical and Royal University of Santo Tomas, Manila, and San Carlos Seminary, Makati, but left his vocation shortly before his ordination to the Sacrament of Holy Orders to become a full-time painter.
Sillada's colorful and lively paintings, heart-warming love poems, and sultry ethnic music will rouse Ms. Offy's loving memory on February 19, 2008, (Tuesday), 6:30 p.m., at Ricco-Renzo Galleries & Café, LRI Design Plaza, N. Garcia St. (formerly Reposo), Makati City, Philippines.
